Cornell’s esports program doesn’t just focus on winning—though their trophy cabinet would suggest they do that quite well. Instead, the program places an emphasis on fostering community, resilience, and innovation. It’s a reflection of the college itself: small, intimate, and brimming with ambition.

As the collegiate esports season gets underway, we’re seeing both familiar challenges and new opportunities. The landscape continues to evolve, and while growth is evident, the separation between robust and fragile programs is becoming more pronounced.

Briar Cliff University (BCU) has rapidly emerged as a powerhouse in collegiate esports since launching its program in Sept. 2021.

Although still in its early stages, the Pioneer Esports program has already demonstrated its potential across multiple titles.

It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome the Columbia College Valorant and League of Legends teams to the Midwest Esports Conference (MEC).
